The Face of Love

Sanctus Real's new release, The Face of Love, is mine now. so i'll talk about it.

well, we all know it's hard for a band to come out with a good sophomore album, but Sanctus Real did that with Fight the Tide. and when a band comes out with a good second cd like that, it's gonna be hard to top it. but when each cd progressively changes, well, that makes them all great. Sanctus Real's first cd, Say it Loud, was a great cd i thought. lots of powerchords and great guitar riffs. very guitary. i love it. Sanctus Real's second cd, Fight the Tide, changed it up a bit and evened itself out, so it wasn't purely driven by guitars, and began to slow things down as well, added some acoustic stuff. but still, it had those real sweet songs like Alone and Closer, and it had wicked solos everywhere you looked. Say it Loud ended with After Today, probably one of the greatest songs ever, it was slower than the rest of the cd. Fight the Tide ended with Say Goodbye, and in my opinion it is also one of the greatest songs ever.

The Face of Love, though, was suprisingly slower than both other cd's. it's so much more mature. "flawless execution.." says CCM Magazine. a couple of the songs, maybe about 4 of them, very much reflect their previous pure-guitar-driven stuff almost. what hits you about these songs are the lyrics, themed on love, life and pain. the cd is, after all, "born out of the dark realities and trials of life". it's a very beautiful cd. and, it being their third, i regard them as here to stay, they've made their mark. from their cover of U2's Beautiful Day, to Say it Loud, to Alone, and to the songs like Don't Give Up, We're Trying, Possibilities, and Where We Belong, and to the last song on this disc, Benjamin, Sanctus Real rocks.

there's nothing more that Sanctus Real would want me to say to end a post like this, i believe, other than DON'T GIVE UP ON LOVE! God bless
